Visita del Secretario General Antonio Guterres a Colombia

El Secretario General se reunirá con el presidente Iván Duque y funcionarios de su gobierno, así como con líderes de la antigua guerrilla FARC-EP. Asistirá a eventos conmemorativos y observará los esfuerzos de consolidación de la paz y de reconciliación que involucran a excombatientes, comunidades y autoridades. El Secretario General se reunirá con jefes del sistema de justicia transicional, víctimas del conflicto armado y líderes de la sociedad civil colombiana, incluyendo mujeres, jóvenes, representantes indígenas y afrocolombianos, activistas de derechos humanos y del cambio climático.

Mediante esta visita, el Secretario General hará un balance de los principales logros del proceso de paz, así como de los desafíos pendientes. Transmitirá un fuerte mensaje de aliento para la implementación continua de este Acuerdo de Paz transformador y de gran alcance en beneficio de todos los colombianos.

SECRETARY-GENERAL TO VISIT COLOMBIA

New York, 19 November 2021. The Secretary-General will visit Colombia from 23-24 November in celebration of the Fifth Anniversary of the signing of the landmark 2016 Final Peace Agreement between the Government of Colombia and the former FARC-EP.

The Secretary-General will meet with President Iván Duque and officials of his government, as well as with leaders of the former FARC-EP guerilla. He will attend commemorative events and observe peacebuilding and reconciliation efforts involving former combatants, communities, and authorities. The Secretary-General will meet with heads of the transitional justice system, victims of the armed conflict, and leaders in Colombian civil society, including women, youth, indigenous and Afro-Colombian representatives, human rights and climate activists.

Through this visit, the Secretary-General will take stock of the major achievements of the peace process as well as the outstanding challenges. He will convey a strong message of encouragement for the continued implementation of this far-reaching and transformative Peace Agreement for the benefit of all Colombians.
